1905 - A. Durand & Fils Editeurs, Paris.

The moonlight gently emerges, bathing the night in an ethereal glow. A hushed serenity envelops the air as delicate harmonies weave a dreamy tapestry. Floating between reality and dream, Claro de Luna unfolds like an otherworldly whisper, a melody suspended in time, shimmering with melancholy and wonder.

"Clair de Lune" is the third movement of the Suite Bergamasque , one of Claude Debussy 's most beloved piano compositions. Inspired by Paul Verlaine 's poem of the same name, its music evokes the flickering of moonlight on water, the distant echo of masked dancers, and the ephemeral beauty of an Impressionist vision. It is a piece of pure poetry, where sound and silence embrace in perfect harmony.

The first edition of the Suite Bergamasque was published in 1905 , although Debussy had begun composing it in the 1890s. While the suite reflects influences from Baroque dances, Clair de Lune is distinguished by its floating, impressionistic sound, anticipating the composer's later masterpieces.

The illustration captures the luminous arpeggios of the introduction, where the piano, with its subtle glow, creates a veil of light. As the melody progresses, each note seems to fade into the night, like silver reflections dancing on a calm lake.

... Au calme clair de lune triste et beau,

Qui fait rêver les oiseaux dans les arbres
Et sangloter d'ectase les jets d'eau,
The great water jets open on the marbres.
